Conference play continues in Austin on Saturday

AUSTIN, Texas (September 21, 2017) - The Texas A&M International University Women's Volleyball team continues Heartland Conference action on Saturday. TAMIU will take on St. Edward's before facing Henderson State in a tri-match. Play is set to begin at 12 p.m.

TAMIU comes into the weekend 2-12 overall with a Heartland Conference record of 0-1 after falling to Dallas Baptist on Thursday night. Yuliia Hupkovska picked up six kills in the 0-3 loss while Ronnie Fountain tallied 18 assists. Lacy Asdourian finished with 12 digs. Panebi Shirey picked up three blocks in the loss. 

SCOUTING THE HILLTOPPERS:
TAMIU will face the Hilltoppers for the first time in 2017 on Saturday. In their last matchup with SEU, TAMIU fell 1-3 in Austin. The Hilltoppers enter Saturday's match with a 9-4 overall record (1-0 Heartland Conference). SEU picked up a 3-0 sweep of St. Mary's on September 21. St. Edward's is paced offensively by Katie Martin who has picked up 128 kills and 14 aces. Julia Hartley adds 254 assists. Defensively, SEU is led by Mikayla Parker who has recorded 52 blocks. Morgan Beckham leads the team in digs with 273. St. Edward's and TAMIU have faced off 25 times with SEU holding the all-time series lead 18-7. 

SCOUTING HENDERSON STATE:
The Dustdevils face Henderson State for the first time since 2010 where TAMIU was dealt a 1-3 loss in Denton, Texas. The Reddies come into Saturday's matchup at 8-6 with a GAC record for 2-1. Henderson State knocked off GAC foe Southern Arkansas 3-0 on September 21 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Offensively, the Reddies are led by Courtney Bolf who has recorded 160 kills and 13 aces. Sariah Boney leads Henderson State with 290 assists. Defensively, Henderson State is led by Adrianna Hartmann who has tallied 44 blocks while Sydney Skelton has picked up 210 digs.

UP NEXT:
After the Austin tri-match TAMIU will return to Laredo where they host Lubbock Christian for their first game at home in 2017. Play in the TAMIU KCB is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
