St. Mary's Gets Past TAMIU In Overtime

St. Mary's defeated Texas A&M International University 2-1 in overtime in Heartland Conference action on Friday afternoon in San Antonio. The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for the Dustdevils.

TAMIU took a 1-0 lead when Raul Quinoñes netted an unassisted goal in the 23rd minute. St. Mary's tied the game on a goal by Chris Smith in the 80th minute. Daniel Sanguieti scored the game-winner for the Rattlers on a header into the net in the 101st minute.

St. Mary's (6-8, 3-3) outshot TAMIU 13-5 with an 8-2 advantage in shots on goal. Goalkeeper Noé Pantoja finished with six saves for the Dustdevils.

TAMIU (5-6-2, 1-4-2) will conclude the 2007 season with a four-game home stand, which will start next Friday against St. Edward's. Kickoff against the Hilltoppers is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Dustdevil Field.
