Final Stats
Texas A&M-Kingsville defeated Texas A&M International University 77-76 in non-conference action on Thursday night at TAMIU's Kinesiology and Convocation Building.
Kingsville held a 46-35 halftime lead and a 68-57 lead with eight minutes remaining in regulation. TAMIU fought back and got the lead down to 72-71 on a Sean Tucker jumper with a little over two minutes remaining.
The teams traded baskets at that point and the Dustdevils were once again within one point at the 1:28 mark but would get no closer than that margin. Tucker missed two three-pointers in the last minute. Ignacio García fouled Reggie Love with five seconds remaining and Love made the first of two free throws to give Kingsville a four-point margin. Jerante Morgam hit a three-pointer for TAMIU at the buzzer to cut the final margin to one point.
Four Dustdevils scored in double-figures with Tucker leading the way with 23 points. Morgan finished with 18 points while Tracy Johnson contributed a team-high seven rebounds.
TAMIU (1-3) will take a week off before returning to the court to host Houston Baptist on Nov. 28. Tip-off in that game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
