Dustdevils Edge Greyhounds By One Goal

Sept. 14, 2007

Final Stats

Texas A&M International closed out a season-opening four-game home stand with a 3-2 win over Lone Star Conference foe Eastern New Mexico on Friday afternoon at Dustdevil Field. TAMIU (2-1-1) equaled its goal total in its first three games on the season in the win over the Greyhounds.

Ryan McClanahan staked ENMU (3-3) to a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute when he placed a pass from Jared Morris into the left side of the net. TAMIU would answer with goals by Leonardo Calvo in the 22nd minute, Adeyemi Gill in the 25th minute and Gregory Mulamba in the 35th minute to take a 3-1 halftime lead.

Mulamba's game-winner was the result of a crafty back-and-forth pass with Gill. Armando Villarreal and Raul Quiñones assisted on the first two TAMIU goals.

ENMU's Eric Perea scored on a nice short-range stop and shot in the 75th minute to pull the Greyhounds within one goal but the game would get no closer than that margin. The starting goalkeepers, TAMIU's Noé Pantoja and ENMU's Leif Craddock, each finished with three saves in going the distance.

TAMIU will start a three-game road swing on Monday at West Texas A&M. The Dustdevils will play their next home game on Thursday, Sept. 27 against St. Thomas.
