Ladys Montaño contributed 13 kills and eight digs to lead Texas A&M International University to a 3-0 non-conference sweep over Huston-Tillotson on Tuesday night at the TAMIU Kinesiology & Convocation Building. The win snapped a three-match losing streak for the Dustdevils.
TAMIU (2-10) jumped out to an 11-2 lead in game one before cruising to a 30-17 win. The Dustdevils followed that up with a 30-15 win in game two and a 30-23 win the final game of the evening.
Alexandria Montemayor finished with 10 kills for the Dustdevils and Madison Mojica contributed a team-high 13 digs. Montemayor closed out the final game with her lone service ace of the evening. Mallori Oliver led Huston-Tillotson (0-16) with eight kills.
TAMIU will play its next three matches on the road. The Dustdevils will play at Newman on Thursday before facing Panhandle State and Midwestern State on Saturday. The Newman and Panhandle State matches are Heartland Conference contests.
