Falcons Get Past Dustdevils

Final Stats

UT-Permian Basin defeated Texas A&M International University 84-71 on Thursday night at the Falcon Dome in Odessa.

UTPB (3-8, 0-1 Heartland Conference) held a slim 32-30 lead at the half before building a 14-point lead at the 14:04 mark of the second half. TAMIU (3-7, 0-1) would cut that lead to six points on a jumper by Chris Swan at the 7:24 mark but the Dustdevils would get no closer than that margin.

UTPB built an insurmountable 77-64 lead on a layup by Quintan Lipkins at the 1:32 mark. Robert Harris led the Falcons with 30 points and 13 rebounds.

Derek Barnes led TAMIU with 17 points. Ignacio García finished with 14 points and Sean Tucker contributed 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds.

TAMIU returns to action on Saturday night with a road game against Panhandle State. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Goodwell, Okla.
