Final Stats
Texas A&M International University snapped a two-game losing streak with a 102-94 overtime road win over Dallas Baptist on Saturday.
Regulation play was a back-and-forth affair with eight ties and four lead changes. TAMIU (5-9) held a commanding 79-69 lead with 1:17 left in the game but DBU (5-10) went on a 14-4 run to tie the score 83-83 at the end of regulation.
The Dustdevils got back on track in overtime, jumping out to an 88-83 lead on a jumper by Derek Barnes at the 3:38 mark. The Patriots would get no closer than four points the rest of the way. TAMIU stretched the lead to 98-88 on a free throw by Barnes at the 1:02 mark.
TAMIU out-rebounded DBU 46-38 while also finishing with a season-high 19 steals. That mark is only two steals off the school record of 21 recorded against Northern Colorado during the 2003-04 season.
Spencer Foreman finished with a season-high 26 points for the Dustdevils. Derek Barnes and Ignacio García finished with 19 points apiece with Chris Swan chipping in with 15 points.
Sean Tucker led the team with 10 rebounds and Jerante Morgan contributed a team-high four steals.
TAMIU will commence a four game home stand against St. Mary's on Thursday. Tip-off against the Rattlers is scheduled for 7:30 at the Kinesiology & Convocation Building.
