Final Stats
St. Mary's defeated Texas A&M International University 70-51 in Heartland Conference action on Thursday night at the Kinesiology & Convocation Building.
TAMIU (5-11, 1-3 Heartland) led 21-17 in the first half before St. Mary's (14-4, 5-0) went on a 13-4 run to take a 30-25 halftime lead.
Krystal Benson-Cooper cut the Rattler lead to 42-39 on a jumper at the 11:41 mark of the second half but St. Mary's responded with an 11-0 run to build an insurmountable lead at the 7:18 mark. The Dustdevils would get no closer than 10 points the rest of the way.
Mary Tobias led the Dustdevils with 15 points. Chevelle Hoyle contributed a team-high 10 rebounds.
TAMIU returns to action with a home game against St. Edward's on Saturday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
