Javelinas Drop Dustdevils At St. Edward's Classic

Texas A&M-Kingsville defeated Texas A&M International University 83-75 in second day action at the St. Edward's Christmas Classic on Saturday in Austin. The result snapped a two-game Dustdevil winning streak over the Javelinas.

TAMIU (3-7) started strong and jumped out to a 23-11 lead on a 3-pointer by Beth Hampton at the 11:32 mark of the first half. The lead would stand at 36-27 at the 5:58 mark but the Javelinas would finish the period with a 21-6 to take a 48-42 halftime lead.

Texas A&M-Kingsville (7-4) scored the first six points of the second half and the Javelinas would lead by double-digits most of the period. The lead stood at 18 points at the 10:39 mark and 16 points at the 3:43 mark. The margin did not go to single-digits until Krystal Manning hit a 3-pointer with seconds remaining.

Mary Tobias led the Dustdevils with 19 points. Manning finished with 14 points and Jasmine June contributed 13 points and four steals.

TAMIU returns to action on Dec. 30-31 at the St. Mary's Classic. The Dustdevils will face Ouachita Baptist on Dec. 30 and Eastern New Mexico on Dec. 31.
