Newman Beats TAMIU In Four Overtimes

Newman defeated Texas A&M International University 114-103 in four overtimes on Saturday afternoon at Fugate Gym in Wichita, Kan. Six Dustdevils fouled out in the longest game in the five-year history of TAMIU basketball.

Four players scored in double-figures for the TAMIU (8-13 overall) with Sean Tucker leading the way with 26 points. Derek Barnes added 21 points, Chris Swan 20 points and Jerante Morgan 15 points.

Swan also finished with a season-high 16 rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals. The double-double was his second of the season.

Ryan Bradley led Newman (13-9) with 40 points, the highest scoring game for an opponent this season.

TAMIU returns to action on Thursday with a home game against Dallas Baptist. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Kinesiology & Convocation Building.
