Final Stats

Incarnate Word defeated Texas A&M International University 80-58 on Saturday night at the McDermott Center on the UIW campus in San Antonio.

UIW (13-7) made 20 of 37 field goal attempts in the first half en route to building a commanding 49-24 halftime lead. TAMIU fought back to cut the Cardinal lead to 61-49 on a layup by Ignacio García at the 8:29 mark of the second half but Incarnate Word would respond with an 11-0 run to build an insurmountable 72-49 lead at the 6:14 mark.

Chris Swan led TAMIU (7-12) with 18 points. Jerante Morgan contributed 14 points and Derek Barnes added 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

TAMIU will play Heartland Conference road games at Lincoln on Thursday and Newman on Saturday.
