Final Stats
Texas A&M International University closed out the 2007-08 season with a 105-86 Heartland Conference win over UT-Permian Basin on Saturday at the Kinesiology & Convocation Building. It was the first 100-point effort of the season for the Dustdevils.
The Dustdevils made 26 of 42 field goals in the first half en route to jumping out to a 58-41 halftime lead. TAMIU (8-18, 4-10 Heartland) stretched the lead to 63-43 on a Nicole Gipson layup at the 17:46 mark of the second half. UTPB (2-26, 1-13) would get no closer than 15 points the rest of the way.
TAMIU finished with a season-best .524 team field goal percentage, making 43 of 82 shots against the Falcons. The Dustdevils also finished with a plus 26 rebounding edge, 62-36.
Jasmine June led the Dustdevils with 19 points. Krystal Benson-Cooper and Nicole Gipson both contributed with double-doubles. Benson-Cooper finished with 18 points and 13 rebounds and Gipson finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
