Final Stats
Texas A&M International University snapped a two-game losing streak with a 2-0 Heartland Conference win over UT-Permian Basin on Sunday afternoon in Odessa. With the positive result the Dustdevils end a season-opening five-game road swing with a 3-2 record.
Victor García broke a scoreless tie with a short-range goal from the box in 69th minute. Alejandro Castillo was credited with the assist. Greg Mulamba would push the lead to 2-0 when he headed a Christian Salazar corner kick into the net in the 81st minute.
Luis Rincon was outstanding in goal for the Dustdevils, finishing with seven saves and recording his first shutout of the season.
After playing its first five games on the road TAMIU (3-2, 1-1 Heartland) will now benefit by playing its next three games at the friendly confines of Dustdevil Field. The home stretch begins next weekend with challenging contests against St. Edward's on Friday and Incarnate Word on Sunday. Kickoff for all home games this season is scheduled for 7 p.m.
