Dustdevils Earn Come-From-Behind Win Over Aggies

Texas A&M International University fell behind 2-1 before storming back for a five-set (15-25, 25-14, 14-15, 25-15, 15-11) Heartland Conference win over Oklahoma Panhandle State on Thursday night at the TAMIU Kinesiology & Convocation Building. A majority of the season-high crowd of 407 fans wore pink in support of the Dig Pink intitative to raise funds and awareness for the search for a cure for breast cancer.

TAMIU fell behind 3-0 in game four before going on a 15-4 run to take a 15-7 lead. OPSU would cut the lead to 15-11 before the Dustdevils went on a 5-0 run to build an insurmountable 20-11 advantage.

The fifth and deciding set was tied 10-10 before TAMIU clinched the win with a 5-1 run. Two kills by Alexandria Montemayor and two attack errors by OPSU pushed the Dustdevil lead to 14-11 before a bad set by the Aggies clinched the win for the home team.

Montemayor lead the Dustdevils with 14 kills and 14 digs. Isela Flores finished with 15 kills and nine digs and Danielle Gilley contributed nine digs and 32 assists.

TAMIU (3-20, 2-6 Heartland) will host Newman in Heartland Conference action on Saturday and Texas A&M-Kingsville in non-conference action on Tuesday. First serve in Saturday's match is set for 2 p.m.
