St. Edward's edged Texas A&M International University 2-1 in overtime Heartland Conference action on Sunday afternoon in Austin. SEU scored the game-winner on a penalty kick goal by Scott Strickland only 28 seconds into the overtime period.

The game was evenly-played in regulation with St. Edward's holding a slight 13-11 edge in shots taken. TAMIU goalkeeper Luis Rincon and SEU keeper Matt Moore recorded three saves apiece in the first 90 minutes.

St. Edward's took a 1-0 lead on goal by Strickland off a misplayed save by Rincon in the 61st minute. TAMIU tied the score when Roy Hernández placed a header into the net from a cross by Julian Hierro in the 82nd minute.

Texas A&M International (5-6-2, 4-2-1 Heartland) is still in first place in the Heartland Conference standings with 13 points but TAMIU, Incarnate Word and St. Edward's now all have four wins in league play. The Dustdevils have played two more conference games than both opponents, who each stand at 4-1 in Heartland play.

TAMIU will return to action next weekend with a road trip north to play a non-conference game at Northeastern State on Friday and a conference game at Newman on Sunday.
