St. Edward's Beats TAMIU In Key Heartland Conference Contest

St. Edward's defeated Texas A&M International University 85-73 in Heartland Conference action on Saturday afternoon at the TAMIU Kinesiology & Building.

St. Edward's led by double-digits the entire second half. TAMIU cut the deficit to 77-66 on free throw by Mary Tobias at the 3:53 mark of the second half but SEU would go on a 6-1 run to build the lead back to 83-67 at the 2:30 mark.

The result means that TAMIU and SEU will have to wait to see who gets the third seed in the upcoming Heartland Conference postseason tournament. TAMIU (10-14 overall) has a 7-4 Heartland record with three league games remaining while St. Edward's (13-12) stands at 7-5 with two conference games remaining.

TAMIU will host league leader St. Mary's on Monday before closing out the regular season with road games at Oklahoma Panhandle State and UT-Permian Basin. St. Edward's will close-out the regular season with home games against lower division foes Lincoln and Newman.
