TAMIU Locks Down Third Seed In Heartland Conference Tournament

Texas A&M International University continued its roll towards the upcoming Heartland Conference Tournament with an 82-51 road win over Oklahoma Panhandle State on Thursday night. The win locks down the third seed in the tournament for the Dustdevils, who will likely face Incarnate Word in the semifinal round.

TAMIU (12-4, 9-4 Heartland) held a slim 39-36 lead at the 17:28 mark of the second half before putting the game away with a 22-5 run that built a 61-41 lead at the 8:02 mark. OPSU (3-23, 1-12) got no closer than 17 points the rest of the game.

Krystal Manning led the Dustdevils with 23 points and five assists. Mary Tobias contributed 19 points and Chevelle Hoyle a team-high 10 rebounds.

TAMIU closes out the regular season at UT-Permian Basin on Saturday. Tip-off against the Falcons is scheduled for 2 p.m.
