Final Stats

Texas A&M International University put in its final tune-up for the upcoming Heartland Conference Tournament on Saturday at UT-Permian Basin. The Dustdevils cruised to an 86-67 win over the Falcons in the regular season finale for both teams.

Four Dustdevils scored in double-figures with senior Valerie Villanueva leading the way with a career-high 29 points. Chevelle Hoyle finished with 13 points, Beth Hampton with 12 points and Mary Tobias 11 points. Christina Tristan finished with a team-high seven rebounds.

The Heartland Conference Tournament will be hosted by St. Mary's next weekend. The tournament schedule will be announced by the conference on Sunday.

TAMIU will enter the conference tournament as the third seed. The Dustdevils will face Incarnate Word in the semifinal round. The teams split this season with the visiting team winning each time. TAMIU defeated UIW 76-73 on Jan. 17 in San Antonio and the Cardinals beat the Dustdevils 85-70 on Feb. 7 in Laredo.
