Final Stats

Texas A&M International University swept UT-Permian Basin in Heartland Conference doubleheader action on Monday afternoon at Dustdevil Field, winning game one 2-0 and game two 5-2. The Dustdevils improved to 8-0 in conference play with the four-game series sweep of the Falcons.

A two-run first inning would be all the offense the Dustdevils would need in the opener. Victoria Beltrán and Samantha García provided a RBI singles in that frame.

Beltran picked up the win with another dominating pitching performance. She went the distance, scattering four hits and striking out three batters with one walk.

UTPB (2-27, 0-8 Heartland) held a 2-0 lead before TAMIU (19-8, 8-0) put the game in the win column with a five-run sixth inning. Allison Stein contributed a two-RBI double and Clarissa Salinas a two-RBI single in the go-ahead inning.

Beltran (13-5) picked up the win in a relief role. She allowed no runs on four hits in 3.2 innings of work.

TAMIU will start an eight-game spring break trip with a doubleheader at Eastern New Mexico on Wednesday.
