Final Stats

UT-Permian Basin swept Texas A&M International University in Heartland Conference doubleheader action on Saturday afternoon in Odessa. The 19th ranked Falcons won the opener 10-3 and the second game 6-2.

UTPB scored six runs in the bottom of the fourth in the opener to blow out to an insurmountable 10-2 lead. Jorge Guarneros (3-3) took the loss after allowing seven earned runs on 10 hits in a 4.0 inning outing.

Danny Cornejo hit a two-run line drive home run in the top of the fourth inning in game two to cut the UTPB lead to 3-2. The Dustdevils would get only one hit over the final three innings, however, allowing the Falcons to extend their winning streak to four games.

John Gonzáles (3-4) was credited with the loss for the Dustdevils. He allowed six earned runs on 11 hits in a complete game effort.

The two teams will conclude the series with a doubleheader tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
