Dustdevils Snap Skid With With Over TexAnns

April 15, 2009

Final Stats

Texas A&M International University snapped a nine-game losing streak with an 8-2 extra innings win over Tarleton State in the second game of a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday in Stephenville. The win also snaps TAMIU's 10-game losing streak to Lone Star Conference opponents, improving the record against LSC opponents to 4-13.

The score was tied 2-2 before the Dustdevils erupted for six runs on five hits in the top of the eighth inning. The big hit in that frame was a two-out, two-run home run by Ryanne Chapman.

Clarissa Salinas (2-9) picked up the win after setting the TexAnns down in order in the bottom of the eighth. She allowed no runs on three hits in a 2.1 inning outing.

TAMIU (23-25) returns to Heartland Conference action this weekend with a series at Newman. First pitch in Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled for 1 p.m.
