San Jac Edges Dustdevils In Exhibition Action

Aug. 21, 2009

San Jacinto College defeated Texas A&M International University 1-0 in exhibition action on Friday night at a muggy Dustdevil Field.

TAMIU finished with a 13-8 advantage in shots on goal but SJC took the game's most important shot when Samir Peña put the ball into the net from 25 yards out in the 32nd minute. The shot was popped over a drawn out Juan Pablo Muñoz and bounced to the top of the net after hitting in front of the goal about one yard from the end line.

Muñoz kept TAMIU in the game by pushing two balls over the top of the goal in the second half and the veteran goalkeeper finished with three saves on the evening.

TAMIU's Roy Hernández made a great run up the middle in the 75th minute before firing a shot from about 18 yards out. San Jac goalkeeper Bebo Frias made a great save, however, to keep the Dustdevils scoreless.

TAMIU will play another exhibition on Monday night against a yet to determined opponent. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
