Dustdevils Roll Past Falcons In Heartland Conference Road Action

Sept. 27, 2009

Final Stats

Texas A&M International University remains in first place in the Heartland Conference standings after a dominating 5-0 road win over UT-Permian Basin on Sunday afternoon in Odessa. The Dustdevils sit atop the conference standings with 10 points and a 3-0-1 league mark.

TAMIU (3-3-2 overall) scored all five goals in the second half in the win over the Falcons (2-4-1). Oscar Suvias scored the first goal in the 47th minute on a shot into the net from 10 yards out. An Adan Villavicencio goal in the 63rd minute was followed by goals from Leonardo Ramos in the 63rd minute, Alex De la Fuente in the 77th minute and Roy Hernández in the 88th minute.

Goalkeeper Luis Rincon recorded his third straight shutout, finishing with two saves. Rincon has allowed only one goal in his last 380 minutes between the posts, helping lead the Dustdevils to a 3-0-1 mark over that span.

The 5-0 win is the biggest margin of victory for the Dustdevils since an identical 5-0 win over Newman on Oct. 24, 2008.

TAMIU returns to action next Friday with a conference game at St. Mary's on Friday. The Dustdevils will then play at important non-conference road game against nationally-ranked West Texas A&M on Sunday.
