Oklahoma Panhandle State Rallies For Win Over Dustdevils

Oklahoma Panhandle State snapped Texas A&M International University's two-game winning streak with a 58-57 come-from-behind Heartland Conference win over the Dustdevils on Thursday night in Goodwell, Okla.

TAMIU (6-9, 3-3 Heartland) started the game with an 8-0 run en route to a 26-10 lead at the 7:49 mark of the first half. The Dustdevil led 33-22 at halftime.

OPSU (7-8, 3-2) slowly climbed back into the game in the second half, tying the score 47-47 on a 3-pointer at the 8:24 mark.

Marcale Marshall hit a jumper with 45 seconds left in regulation to give OPSU a 56-52 lead before St. Paul Latham cut the deficit to 56-54 with two free throws with 18 seconds left. Reggie Lassiter sealed the Aggie win with two free throws with eight seconds remaining that pushed the lead to 58-54. Luis Gómez hit a 3-pointer with seconds remaining to cut the final margin to one point.

Gómez led the Dustdevils with 14 points with Latham contributing 11 points and 4 assists. Will Faiivae finished with 10 points and a team-high 8 rebounds.

TAMIU returns to action on Saturday with a conference road game at UT-Permian Basin. Tip-off against the Falcons is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
