Final Stats
Arkansas-Fort Smith defeated Texas A&M International University 83-70 in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon at the TAMIU Kinesiology & Convocation Building.
TAMIU (2-12) led by as many as nine points in the first half but UAFS (3-7) ended the period with a 10-2 run to take a 38-33 lead at the break.
Arkansas-Fort Smith stretched its lead to 49-39 at the 13:57 mark of the second half before the Dustdevils fought back to cut the deficit to 51-49 at the 9:14 mark. UAFS went on a 19-6 run at that point to build an insurmountable 70-55 lead at the 5:52 mark.
Johnna Williams led the Dustdevils with 15 points and 15 rebounds. Latreshe Jones finished with 10 points and Courtney Dixon contributed a season-high 10 rebounds.
TAMIU returns to action on Thursday night with a Heartland Conference home game against St. Mary's. Tip-off against the Lady Rattlers is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
