Final Stats
Texas A&M International University rallied from a two-goal deficit to tie Lone Star Conference power Eastern New Mexico 2-2 in non-conference action on Friday afternoon in Portales, N.M. ENMU has been ranked in the top-25 for most of the season before recently falling out of the national rankings.
ENMU (8-3-2) built a 2-0 halftime lead on the strength on goals by Kal Herbert in the ninth minute and Jehmaine Brooks in the 26th minute.
Abel Villavicencio received a red card right before the break, forcing the Dustdevils to play the second half a man down. That obstacle did not prevent TAMIU (7-5-1) from making a comeback.
Christian Salazar cut the deficit to one goal on an unassisted score in the 61st minute. Luís Salas then tied the score 2-2 when he found the back of the net off of a pass from Salazar in the 75th minute.
Each team would get two shots over the final 15 minutes of regulation and 20 minutes of overtime but neither scored and the game ended in a tie.
Eastern New Mexico finished with a 7-5 edge in shots on goal. Dustdevil goalkeeper Emmanuel Frias finished with five saves compared to three saves for Greyhound goalkeeper Orlando Rodríguez.
