Dustdevils Rally For 2-1 Win Over UT-Permian Basin

Oct. 3, 2010

Final Stats

Texas A&M international University earned its first Heartland Conference win since the 2007 season in dramatic fashion on Sunday afternoon at Dustdevil Field. TAMIU defeated UT-Permian Basin 2-1 in overtime in a physical game in which four yellow and two red cards were issued.

Hannah Dozier lifted UTPB (3-5-1, 0-1 Heartland) to a 1-0 lead with a short-range goal in the 29th minute. It looked like that goal might be enough until Shelby Williams tied the score by heading a Sol Medina corner kick into the net in the 87th minute.

After tying the score in the nick of time TAMIU (4-4, 1-1) did not take long to put the game in the win column. Allysa Pérez redirected a Medina pass into the left corner of the net less than four minutes into overtime to provide the game-winning goal for the Dustdevils.

The game was evenly played with UTPB holding a 21-17 edge in shots taken and TAMIU holding an 8-7 advantage in shots on goal. TAMIU's Sasha Scott and UTPB's Victoria Ramírez finished with six saves apiece.
