Final Stats

Newman edged Texas A&M International University 1-0 in Heartland Conference action on Saturday afternoon in Wichita, Kan.

Yvette Alvarez scored the game winner for the Lady Jets on a short-range goal in the 39th minute.

Newman (8-8, 4-4 Heartland) out-shot the Dustdevils 15-6 with a 10-3 edge in shots on goal. Sasha Scott made three saves in goal for TAMIU (4-11, 1-8) with Christina Farid making three saves to boost Newman to a shutout win.

TAMIU concludes the regular season with a home game against conference frontrunner St. Edward's on Thursday. Kickoff against the Hilltoppers is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Dustdevil Field.
