Texas A&M defeated Texas A&M International University 77-46 on Friday night at Reed Arena in College Station in what was TAMIU's first ever contest against a Big 12 opponent. The game was a regular season game for the Aggies and an exhibition for the Dustdevils.
Texas A&M had three players score in double-figures with David Loubeau leading the way with 18 points. Khris Middleton finished with 14 points and Nathan Walkup contributed 13 points. Loubeau also finished with a team-high 12 rebounds.
Evan Matteson led TAMIU with 12 points, four rebounds and two blocks. Steven Ivory finished with seven points and Luís Gómez and Ryan McLucas contributed six points apiece.
Texas A&M out-rebounded TAMIU 48-23 while making 30 of 65 field goals (46.2 %) compared to the Dustdevils making 17 of 48 field goal attempts (35.4 %).
TAMIU returns to regular season action next weekend at the St. Mary's Classic. The Dustdevils will play two Lone Star Conference opponents in the tournament, facing Texas A&M-Commerce on Friday and Southeastern Oklahoma State on Saturday.
