Dustdevils Roll Past Southeastern Oklahoma State For First Win

Texas A&M International University broke into the win column for the first time this season with a 76-64 win over Southeastern Oklahoma State on Saturday afternoon at the St. Mary's River City Classic. The win is only the third ever for the Dustdevils against a Lone Star Conference opponent.

TAMIU (1-4) started the game with a 18-0 run. The lead stood at 18 points at the 2:14 mark of the first half but SOSU (1-4) finished the half with a 6-0 run to cut the halftime deficit to 48-36.

The Savage Storm kept coming in the second half, cutting the Dustdevil lead to 59-54 at the 6:48 mark of the second half. TAMIU went on a 10-4 run at that point, however, to build an insurmountable 69-58 lead at the 4:42 mark. SOSU would get no closer than nine points the rest of the game.

Ryan McLucas made seven of nine field goal attempts and led the Dustdevils with 24 points. He also finished with a team-high nine rebounds and five assists.

Armando Brito contributed 12 points and seven rebounds, Luís Gómez finished with 11 points and Evan Matteson contributed 10 points.
