Final Stats
St. Mary's swept Texas A&M International University in Heartland Conference doubleheader action on Friday afternoon at V.J. Keefe Stadium in San Antonio. The Rattlers won game one 13-0 before winning 12-8 in game two.
St. Mary's out-hit TAMIU 15-3 in the opener. Rattler starting pitcher Alfonso Maldonado scattered the three hits with TAMIU's first hit being a fourth inning double by Rey Alvarez.
Jorge Guarneros took the loss for the Dustdevils after allowing five runs (four earned) on eight hits in 4.0 innings.
St. Mary's led 5-1 after three innings and 11-3 after five innings in game two. The Dustdevils scored four runs in the seventh inning on one run in the eighth inning to make the game closer.
TAMIU (8-16, 7-16 Heartland) bashed out 13 hits in the loss but nine of those hits came after St. Mary's (17-7, 15-6) had built an eight-run lead.
Mike McGillivray took the lost for the Dustdevils. He allowed nine runs on seven hits in 3.1 innings.
The Dustdevils and Rattlers will conclude the series with a single game tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
