Final Stats
Texas A&M International University capped a highly-successful Spring Break week of games with a 3-2 win over UT-Permian Basin on Sunday afternoon in Odessa. The win over UTPB pushes TAMIU to a 5-2 record for the Spring Break trip but more importantly keeps the Dustdevils tied with St. Mary's atop the Heartland Conference standings. Both teams stand at 9-0 in league play.
As it was in Friday's doubleheader sweep over UTPB, TAMIU (15-16 overall) overcame a two-run deficit to win today's series finale. The Lady Falcons scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning and that lead would hold until the Dustdevils tied the game with two runs in the fifth before taking the lead with one run in the sixth inning.
Briana Sánchez tied the score for the Dustdevils with a two-RBI single in the fifth inning. Samantha García gave TAMIU the lead with a lead-off solo home run in the sixth inning.
Victoria Beltrán (6-6) picked up the win in a relief role. She allowed no runs on two hits with five strikeouts and no walks in 2.2 innings. Starter Clarissa Salinas allowed two runs on 10 hits in 4.1 innings pitched.
