Briana Sánchez drove in the first run with a bases loaded walk. The next batter, Angel Montejano, then contributed a two RBI single to push the lead to 3-0. Sánchez scored the final run of the inning on a passed ball.

Sánchez scored on a RBI double by Victoria Beltrán in the top of the seventh inning to provide the Dustdevils a 5-0 lead. SEU (24-17, 11-3) rallied with two runs in the bottom of the seventh but the game ended on a ground out to second by Miranda Yeager with runners on second and third base.

Beltrán (9-8) earned the win for the Dustdevils with her team-leading ninth complete-game effort of the season. She allowed one earned run on 10 hits with three strikeouts and three walks in 7.0 innings.

TAMIU will host Texas A&M-Kingsville in a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday before returning to Heartland Conference play with a home three-game series against Incarnate Word next Friday and Saturday.
