Incarnate Word edged Texas A&M International University 2-1 in non-conference action on Friday evening at Dustdevil Field.
Callum Riley provided UIW (3-0) a 1-0 lead on a blast into the net from 22 yards out on a free kick in the 30th minute. Justin Odette pushed the Cardinal lead to 2-0 on a short-range goal off a corner kick in the 63rd minute.
TAMIU (1-2) did not fold and the Dustdevils cut the lead to 2-1 when Edgar Flores sent a pass from Luís Salas into the net from seven yards out in the 73rd minute. The Dustdevils would not score again, however, and their former Heartland Conference rivals would walk off with a hard-fought win.

TAMIU returns to action with a non-conference, neutral site game against Ouachita Baptist on Sunday. Kickoff against OBU is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Richland College in Dallas.
