14th ranked Incarnate Word slipped past Texas A&M International University 1-0 on Friday night in San Antonio. The Cardinals scored the game winner on a successful penalty kick by Callum Riley in the 22nd minute.

An Incarnate Word player was ejected soon after the Cardinals took the lead but TAMIU could not capitalize on playing a man up for the majority of the game. Each team finished with nine shots with UIW finishing with a 5-1 edge in shots on goal.

Cardinal goalkeeper Chris Fidler helped boost his team to a win with his second straight shutout.

The last four TAMIU vs. Incarnate Word games have been settled by an one goal margin with the Cardinals winning three of those games.

TAMIU (4-3) returns to action on Sunday with a Heartland Conference contest at St. Edward's. Kickoff against the Hilltoppers is scheduled for 1 p.m.
