Final Stats

The Texas A&M International University Women's basketball team dropped a hard fought effort on thursday night to conference foe Newman University 77-61.

The Jets of Newman used a strong second half defense that stimied the Dustdevils into 25 turnovers for the game and capatilized on many opportunities.

A close game at the break saw Newman leading 35-33 in large part due to the Dustdevils Freshman phenom Samantha Chacon pacing the way with 15 points for TAMIU.

The game would not get any closer though as the Jets would kick in the afterburners in the second half and score 42 points on offense and limiting the Dustdevils to just 28.

TAMIU drops to 1-2 in conference play and 4-15 overall. Newman University moves to 1-0 in conference play and 10-6 overall.

Next up for the Dustdevils is a date with Oklahoma Panhandle State on Saturday at home in the Kinesiology and Convocation Building with tip time set for 2pm.
