Final Stats

Texas A&M International University evened its Heartland Conference record at 2-2 with a 66-56 win over Oklahoma Panhandle State on Saturday afternoon at the TAMIU Kinesiology and Convocation Building.

TAMIU (5-15, 2-2 Heartland) led by as many as 11 points in the first half and 10 points early in the second half but the Dustdevil lead stood at 58-54 at the 2:29 mark of the second half. That's when senior Johnna Williams took over to secure the win for her team.

Williams grabbed the rebound of a blocked shot and connected on a short jumper to give the Dustdevils a 60-54 lead at the 1:34 mark before sinking a second chance bucket off of a Samantha Chacon miss at the 1:24 mark to stretch the lead to 62-54. OPSU (2-14, 0-2) would get no closer than that eight point margin the rest of the game.

Williams led the Dustdevils with 18 points and 18 rebounds, marking her sixth double-double of the season. Chacon finished with 16 points, Valencia Roy with 11 points and Linda Bañuelos with 10 points.

Nicole Buhl led Oklahoma Panhandle State with 11 points. Tra'Niqia Dishmon contributed 10 points and four blocks.

TAMIU out-rebounded OPSU 52-47 while forcing 15 Aggie turnovers compared to 10 turnovers for the Dustdevils.
