TAMIU Routs Hillsdale Freewill Baptist In Final Tune-Up Before Heartland Conference Play Opens

Texas A&M International University easily defeated Hillsdale Freewill Baptist 90-49 in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon at the TAMIU Kinesiology & Convocation Building.

The contest was TAMIU's final tune-up before starting Heartland Conference play on Thursday against UT-Permian Basin. That home contest against the Falcons is scheduled for an 8 p.m. tip-off at the KCB.

TAMIU (10-4) played 14 players in the rout over Hillsdale (8-8), with 12 players playing 10 minutes or more and no player playing more than 21 minutes.

TAMIU made 33 of 57 field goal attempts (57.9%). That effort marks the fourth straight game and the eighth time overall this season that the Dustdevils have shot 50% or better. TAMIU out-rebounded the undersized Saints 44-22.

Evan Matteson finished with a team-high 12 points for the Dustdevils. Steven Ivory, Brian Schaeffer and Ian Slater contributed 10 points apiece.

Will Faiivae contributed a team-high eight rebounds and Ryan McLucas finished with a team-high six assists.
