Final Stats

Denton, Texas - The Texas A&M International volleyball team put an exclamation mark on the final day of the 2011 Holiday Inn Express & Suites Classic, going 2-0 including an impressive come from behind win over the host Texas Women's University. The Dustdevils (10-10) are off to their best 20 match start since going 16-4 in 2006.

"We're really proud of what we accomplished," said Head Coach Al Givens. "We came in thinking 3-1 would be a great result and that's what we got. Looking back we feel like we could've gone 4-0, but we didn't give ourselves much chance in our opening game. I'm really impressed with the way our girls get better as matches progress. Our kids believe the longer the match goes, the better chance we have to win."

The Dustdevils rolled over Arkansas-Monticello 3-0 in the early game 25-17, 25-14, 25-13. The TAMIU defense suffocated the opposition, holding the Blossoms to a -.053 attack percentage. Freshman sensation Alex Ciszek led TAMIU finishing just shy of a double-double with ten kills and nine digs. Andrea Marshall and Miranda Pratt picked up seven kills each while setter Daria Winckler finished with a game high 28 assists.

In the late game versus Texas Women's University, TAMIU found themselves down 0-2 before rallying for three consecutive wins to take the match 3-2. Junior Andrea Marshall exploded with a game high 25 kills and was also huge on defense picking up 16 digs. Sophomore Desiree Ortiz was also spectacular on the defensive end, finishing with a game high 28 digs. Alex Ciszek picked up a double-double recording ten kills and 16 digs while Katrinz Zens finished with 14 kills.

The Dustdevils continue their road trip October 6th, heading to Dallas to battle Dallas Baptist University. They'll return home before making the trip to Austin October 8th, to face the St. Edwards Hilltoppers.
