Final Stats
Arkansas-Fort Smith defeated Texas A&M International University 12-3 in non-conference action on Saturday at Jorge Haynes Field on the TAMIU Campus.
UAFS (15-17) got all of the offense it would need in the top of the first inning, scoring five runs on six hits off of Dustdevil starter Mike McGillivray. The visiting team had a comfortable lead throughout the contest, leading 7-2 after three innings and 9-2 after six innings.
TAMIU (17-18) did manage nine hits but left 10 runners stranded in the loss. Zeke Sosa led the way with three hits.
McGillivray (4-4) took the loss after allowing eight runs (six earned) on 11 hits in 4.1 innings of work. Andrew Crowe allowed four runs on eight hits with five strikeouts in a 4.2 inning relief effort.
TAMIU returns to action on Tuesday for a non-conference home doubleheader against Incarnate Word. First pitch is scheduled for noon at Jorge Haynes Field.
