Coach Al Givens Signs His First Five Volleyball Players

Head Volleyball Coach Al Givens is pleased to announce his first recruits to Texas A&M International University. Coach Givens has officially signed incoming freshman Katrina Zens and Alexandria Ciszek. Three transfers will also be coming to TAMIU in Miranda Pratt, Andrea Marshall and Daria Winckler. Coach Al Givens says about his recruits "I am really excited about this recruiting class. In spite of getting a late start in recruiting, I was able to sign what I think is an outstanding class. I was able to address size and the skilled positions. The 2011 recruiting class is going to help get Texas A&M International University volleyball back to the top of the Heartland Conference. This class will complement and add to the returning players. These S/A's bring to TAMIU volleyball a tremendous work ethic, great chemistry, a will to succeed. Every one of them are high energy, high character student-athletes. They all possess great passion for the game and a love for competing."

Katrina Zens comes to TAMIU from Canby High School in Canby, Oregon. She was a Team MVP and a First Team All league player. Katrina's primary position is as middle blocker. She is 6'1" tall and will provide a force in the middle for the Dustdevils.

Alexandria Ciszek is from Santa Margarita Catholic High School in San Juan Capistrano, California. Cizek is a 5'10" outside hitter with excellent leaping and striking power. She played club ball for Laguna Beach Juniors at one of the top club teams in the Los Angeles and Southern California area.

Miranda Pratt is a 6'0" outside hitter who is transferring from the University of Idaho. She will be a sophomore athletically and a junior academically at TAMIU. She is from North Bend, Washington. Her academic interest is Psychology and will bring a veteran presence to the Dustdevils on and off the court.

Andrea (Drea) Marshall is a junior transfer from Arizona Western Community College by the way of Clinton, Utah. At Western Arizona CC she earned First Team All Region and first Team All-ACCAC honors. At 5'8" Andrea plays outside hitter.

Daria Winckler is a 5'10" hitter/setter from Wenatchee Valley Community College in Washington. Winckler will be a junior both academically and athletically for TAMIU. While at Wenatchee, Winckler helped the team to a 27-5 record in 2010. She earned East Region Co-MVP Honors and was a First Team All-Star in the East Region.She was also selected as a 2010 ACVA First Team All-American.
