Late Goal Lifts TAMIU To First Win Of Season

Sunday afternoon Texas A&M International University battled Ouachita Baptist in a neutral site game in Dallas for 86 scoreless minutes before Alyssa Flores was finally able to break through. The junior forward from Avondale, Arizona scored the game's lone goal in the 87th minute propelling the Dustdevils to their first win of the season 1-0 over the Tigers.

TAMIU (1-3) was outshot in the first half 8-1, but unleashed their offensive attack after the intermission firing five shots in the second half.

"In our first three games Alyssa created great opportunities to score but has had some trouble finishing," Coach Arias said.

"Today I was able to see the payoff of all her hard work in practice and we feel like this is the beginning of many goals she will score."

Goalkeeper Noemi Salazar also turned in stellar performance picking up 7 saves in the shutout.

The Dustdevils return to action Friday, September 16th, hosting the University of Central Oklahoma at Dustdevil Field at 8 p.m.
