Coaching in back to back games in the sweltering Dallas heat, head coach Claudio Arias was able to lead Texas A&M International University to a 1-0 win over Ouachita Baptist on Sunday afternoon. The Dustdevils remain undefeated so far this season improving to 3-0.
Former United Longhorn Jovany Macias scored his second goal of the season beating keeper David Henley in the 71st minute. Coach Arias said Macias' goal came on a situation that his team had been working on all week in practice,
"We have had very good crosses to set up opportunities, but we haven't been timing our runs well. Jovany had a much better run on the goal he scored today."
Although the score is not indicative of it, TAMIU dominated the game. The Dustdevils outshot the Tigers 16-5; they also held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks. With Ouachita sagging in defense for the majority of the game, TAMIU goalkeeper Emmanuel Frias didn't see much action picking up only one save.
The Dustdevils are on the road again battling Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma Friday, September 16th.
