Incarnate Word Edges TAMIU In Overtime

Sarah Johnson put a loose ball into the net in the first minute of overtime to lift Incarnate Word to a 2-1 win over Texas A&M International University on Wednesday night at Dustdevil Field.

The game was tied 0-0 at halftime before Jasma Latu lifted UIW (2-0) to a 1-0 lead in the 52nd minute with a shot from 10 yards out to just inside the left post. Kirsten Jennings tied the score for TAMIU in the 58th minute when she put the ball in the net after connecting on shot that deflected off the cross bar on a hard shot by Allysa Oelschlager.

Noemi Salazar made four saves in goal for the Dustdevils and put her team in a position to win but TAMIU (0-3) managed just three shots on goal with St. Mary's goalkeeper Victoria Puentes helping lift her team to a win with three saves.

TAMIU will seek its win of the season on Sunday when the Dustdevils face Ouachita Baptist in a neutral site game at Dallas Christian College.
