GOODWELL, OK - Add another first to the list for the 2012 Texas A&M International University Women's Basketball team. The Dustdevils set a school record Saturday afternoon scoring 126 points, in a 126-114 win over Oklahoma Panhandle State University.

"This must have been an entertaining game to watch," said Head Coach David Beaver. "Panhandle likes to press and shoot a ton of three's. It's hard to defend that many three's, but we did a good job of handling the pressure they bring. It wasn't our best defensive effort of the season, but we did enough to get the win."

Six Dustdevils scored in double figures led by Amanda Mangan who finished with a season high 21 points. Mangan was 7-14 from the field and 5-12 from three point range. "Amanda was phenomenal tonight," said Coach Beaver. "It was an impressive performance, but I was pleased with the way the entire team shot the ball." TAMIU shot 49 percent from the field (44-89) and 43 percent (10-23) from beyond the arc. The rest of the Dustdevils in double figures were Re'Nikia Meshack (17), Nikkitti Scott (14), Valencia Roy (14-season high), Angie Villanueva (13) and Jennifer Johnson (12).

The Dustdevils outscored the Aggies in the paint 38-12 in the opening half, and their inside advantage was apparent from the opening whistle as TAMIU opened the game on a 9-1 run. The Aggies cut the lead down to two points (15-13) with 15:44 remaining, but TAMIU answered with a 22-10 run over the next five minutes to take a 14 point lead (37-23). The Dustdevils maintained at least a seven point advantage for the rest of the half and led 60-53 at the break.

In the second half TAMIU picked up right where they left off, using an 18-5 run to take a 20 point (78-58) lead. With 9:12 remaining in the game, the Dustdevils eclipsed the century mark and led by 25 (101-76). The Dustdevils maintained a double digit lead the rest of the way and coasted to a 126-114 victory.

TAMIU improved their conference record to 2-2, while their overall record jumped to 10-8. The ladies now return to Laredo, where they'll get set to host Arkansas Fort-Smith on January 21 at 2 p.m. at the TAMIU KCB.
