ARKADELPHIA, Arkansas - Wednesday night the Ouachita Baptist Lady Lions pulled off a seemingly improbable comeback over the Texas A&M International University softball team, topping the Dustdevils in game two 8-7 in extra innings.
After dropping the opener of their two game set 3-2, the Texas A&M International University softball team looked poised to rebound with a game two win.
Three times the Lady Lions were able to stave off late game deficits to complete their comeback. Trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh, Megan Askew hit an RBI double to force extra innings. After TAMIU answered with a run in the top half of the eighth, Sarah Strassemeyer hit an RBI single to tie the game at three. The Dustdevils scored four runs in the top half of the ninth to grab a commanding 7-3 lead, but with two away in the bottom of the ninth, the Lady Lions plated five runs to steal the win out from under the Dustdevils 8-7.
