Final Stats
AUSTIN - After splitting the first two games of the series, St. Edward's pitcher Emily Mayfield threw a complete game one hit shutout give the Hilltoppers a 4-0 game three win over the Texas A&M International University softball team Saturday afternoon at Diane Daniels Field.
The loss drops the Dustdevils to 9-26 on the season and 1-2 in conference play. The Dustdevils will return home after 22 straight road games to host Newman Friday, March 23.
The Dustdevils threatened a few times but were never able to break through against the Hilltopper defense. Mariena Gallardo was the only Dustdevil to pick up a hit, while the rest of the TAMIU lineup went 0-20 at the plate.
The Hilltoppers scored two runs in the third and four in the sixth, handing Kyndall Reaves her tenth loss of the season. Reaves gave up four runs, three of them earned, on eight hits with one strikeout through 5.2 innings of work. Sarah Johnson closed out the game for TAMIU going 0.2 innings and giving up two hits.
