Box Score 2 FT. LAUDERDALE, FL - The Texas A&M International University volleyball team turned in another strong performance Saturday at the Nova Southeastern University Invitational, disposing of Merrimack College in straight sets (25-16, 25-7, 25-17) after an early loss to #25 Wheeling Jesuit (20-25, 23-25, 23-25).
"We played very well and didn't let up or lose our composure," said Head Coach Marlon Sano. "Everyone was able to play and they all played well so we were very pleased."
In the early game TAMIU was able to hold their own against no. 25 Wheeling Jesuit, but lost a few key points that proved to be vital.
"We played extremely well but unfortunately we weren't able to close out," said Coach Sano. "We had a few opportunities to take the third set and extend the match, but it just didn't work out in our favor. We learned some valuable lessons that we will be able to apply to the rest of the season."
The Dustdevils will not return to Laredo for their home opener versus conference rival St. Edward's on September 6. The game will tip off at the TAMIU Kinesiology and Convocation Center at 7 p.m."
