TAMIU Takes First Win At Home

Dustdevils down Aggies at TAMIU

LAREDO, Texas – With only two home games remaining, Texas A&M International produced its first victory at the TAMIU Kinesiology and Convocation Building on Friday night for its seniors. The Dustdevils downed Oklahoma Panhandle State, 3-0 (25-13, 25-15, 25-21), in a Heartland Conference battle on Friday during Senior Night.

To complement the victory, TAMIU (3-22, 2-13 Heartland) honored its four senior stalwarts – team captain Miranda Pratt, defensive specialist Desiree Ortiz, Rosebud Guthrie and Tierney Bannon-Coad. Each of the seniors produced on their special night.

Pratt recorded five kills and three blocks to finish with 6.5 points; Ortiz dug a team-high 19 balls; Guthrie finished with a kill and five blocks for four points; and Bannon-Coad completed a kill to finish with a point.

Toriana Goods led all Dustdevils with 15.5 points off 14 kills, an ace and a block. Alex Ciszek walloped a team-high four service aces to go along with five kills and two blocks for 10 points. Paige Criss finished with a pair of blocks and four kills to take five points.

Setter Lizzie Prieto again led the Dustdevils with 26 of the team's 31 total assists. She also had a pair of kills and assists to finish with four points. Prieto dug out 11 balls on defense as well.

The Dustdevils finish their home slate of games on Saturday against Newman at noon.
