ODESSA, Texas –Texas A&M International University fell to University of Texas-Permian Basin in a Heartland Conference matchup Saturday in the Falcon Dome, 3-0 (25-14, 27-25, 25-15).
The Dustdevils gave the Falcons a battle in the second match, only to fall 25-27. During that match, the Dustdevils' attack percentage was .136; the Falcons recorded a .214 attack percentage.
On offense, sophomore Samantha Gonzalez led the team with a .333 attack percentage and supplied the team with six kills. In addition to her offense, junior Lizzie Prieto added to the offensive performance with a team-high 24 assists, adding a .245 percentage and also recording three kills, and an ace.
Defensively, freshman Alejandra Bustamante recorded 17 digs, with senior Alex Ciszek right behind her with 12. Sophomore Koral Wright recorded eight digs, and Sophia Quinones added four. Ciszek and Quinones contributed to the defense with a .958 and 1.000 receiving percentage.
The Dustdevils and the Falcons battled with blocks; each team recording eight together. Tasmin Apple, Prieto, and Gonzalez guided the Dustdevils in blocks.
After being on the road for four straight games, the Dustdevils will finally be back at home on Oct. 17 to face non-conference Huston-Tillotson at 7 p.m.
